Distinct Personalities
Sampson and Goliath are half-brothers who, together, make an excellent team. We are often asked how we can tell these two horses apart. Well, Sampson is always very serious about his job. He has a "no-nonsense" kind of attitude. Goliath, on the other hand, is quite the opposite. Goliath is very playful and is more of a "gee whiz: lighten up big brother" type of character. Sampson stands quietly while being fed treats or being stroked, whereas Goliath would crawl in your lap if he could! Sampson is just a couple of inches taller than Goliath and has a bigger star on his forehead.
When the horses are outfitted and working, you can't miss them in their flashy red harness pads and black biothane harnesses with silver studs and tooling. Sampson is always on the right, and Goliath is steadfastly on the left. Look for them at area events, or call Sampson and Friends for details on how you can make them part of your next event.
Sampson
(a.k.a. Hawk)
Sampson is a black, five-year old Percheron gelding. He is 18.2 hands tall -- that's six feet tall at the shoulders and over eight feet tall at the top of his ears! He tips the scales at just over 1800 pounds and his hoof measures 11-inches wide. But don't let his staggering height scare you -- these boys are gentle giants. Sampson is very professional. He stands quietly while being brushed, harnessed or just fawned over.
Goliath
(a.k.a. Hunter)
Goliath is also a black, five-year old Percheron gelding. Goliath has a tiny white star on his forehead and is 18 hands tall and close to 1800 pounds. He differs from Sampson in that he is very playful. As he is groomed, he plays with the brushes and follows the groomer's hands with his mouth looking for a treat or a pat on the forehead.
